UKI GOÑI
A personal commitment to reporting on human rights and unearthing long-hidden secrets has inspired the work of author Uki Goñi from the start.
The writer and his book The Real Odessa on the escape of Nazi war criminals from Europe have been the object of countless interviews and documentaries by international media such as Discovery Channel, History Channel, the BBC and other television stations in the US, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Italy.
Uki was born in Washington DC, being raised in the United States, Argentina, Mexico and Ireland. He interrupted his studies at Trinity College, Dublin, at the age of 21, to settle in Buenos Aires, the native city of his parents. During Argentina's bloody 1976-83 dictatorship, he was one of very few journalists who reported on the thousands of 'disappearances' of young political opponents by the military.
He remains a constant traveller, working on documentary projects while preparing a series of essays for a new book on human truth, lies and denial.

Uki Goñi nació en Washington DC, criándose en Estados Unidos, Argentina, México e Irlanda. Interrumpió sus estudios en Trinity College, Dublín, para radicarse en Buenos Aires, la ciudad nativa de sus padres, a la edad de 21 años. Se inició en el periodismo en el Buenos Aires Herald, informando sobre las “desapariciones” llevadas a cabo por la dictadura militar del 1976-83 cuando el resto de la prensa argentina guardaba silencio sobre tal horror.
En Argentina ha escrito para todos los major media tales como La Nación, Clarín y Noticias. Ha participado también en documentales para Alemania, Holanda, Suiza, Italia, Inglaterra, España, Estados Unidos y la Argentina. La auténtica Odessa es su tercer libro, precedido por El infiltrado (sobre la “desaparición” de las primeras Madres de Plaza de Mayo) y por Perón y los alemanes (con asombrosas revelaciones referentes a la colaboración entre Buenos Aires y Berlín durante la Segunda Guerra).

Po koncu druge svetovne vojne so se nekateri najhujši nacisticni zlocinci pomešali v valove vojnih beguncev in uspelo jim je pobegniti v Argentino: Adolfu Eichmannu, Josefu Mengeleju, Erichu Priebkeju, pa skoraj celotnemu ustaškemu vodstvu z Antejem Pavelicem na celu ter še mnozici nacistov in kolaborantov, ki so bili v odsotnosti v svojih drzavah obsojeni zlocinov proti cloveštvu.
Argentinski novinar Uki Goñi je v knjigi Resnicna Odessa dokazal, da je šlo za vnaprej nacrtovani in organizirani beg, katerega glavni pokrovitelji so bili argentinski predsednik Juan Perón, Vatikan, zahodne tajne sluzbe in nacizmu naklonjeni posamezniki iz nekaterih evropskih vlad.
Zapleteno begunsko oparacijo so druzno izvajali nekdanji esesovci, visoki rimskokatoliški duhovniki, vojni špekulanti in brezsrcni drzavni uradniki.
Uki Goñi je nekaj let kopal arhivih se pogovarjal s skoraj 200 neposrednimi udelezenci ali pricami tega dogajanja.
Toda šele po prvem izidu letu 2002 je v britanskih arhivih odkril tudi neizpodbitne dokaze za svojo najdrznejšo domnevo: da je celotna operacija potekala ob vedenju in izrecnem soglasju takratnega papeza Pija XII.
